Laurie Lovell

The creative practice I engage in is an intuitive response to what is observed in and about life, into tactile imagery with the interplay of art, design and craft. The materials and subject matter guide the art as it develops. I transform what I observe into tactile imagery utilizing the language of visual communication: texture, line, light and shadow, color, form, space and repetition. Each work establishes a connection to the natural world, colors, symbols, and textures and transforms these inspirations into dimensional impressions. The artistic philosophies I employ integrate formal design elements with a concentrated focus on process and instinctive creativity. My intention is to combine both a creative and meditative approach into an art experience. I invite the viewer to quietly consider.
